San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & Half 2013

Sunday, June 02, 2013

This is my 2nd time running the Half at the annual San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon! "This 26.2 mile marathon and 13.1 mile half-marathon features live music lining the streets, cheer squads, and a huge post-marathon concert to end the race with a bang."  I have done LA, OC, but San Diego is the one not to be missed.

One thing you will notice in this event is that there are many men and women in purple running along with us.  The event raises money for a cause to help the  the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Team in Training (TNT) is a big part of it.

My training paid well.  I PR'ed this Half at 2:09:45.  Last year I ran my Half at 3:13:41.  Oh yes, my timing was horrible.  But I've only began running for just only 3 months before the 2012 event.  I have never ran before, nor did I like it.  But... I showed up, and I finished.  Also, my very first 5K was in San Diego at the Inaugural 5K Chocolate run on March 24, 2012.  Seems to me that San Diego and I have something special going on and we are beginning to build on this special kind of love.  Next year, I promise you, I'll be joining San Diego for the full 26.2 miles.

I will make this event my annual event from here on out. It was mostly because of the notion that we are doing this for a good cause, for Team In Training, for the friendly strangers we met, for the good weather, for the rocking music, and the scenic route.  But one thing that I love most at this event... are the supporters.  Thank you for coming out to support us, to cheer for us.  San Diego supporters, you keep us alive!
